Needed: Way to transfer software registration info

Wouldn’t it be cool if Windows Vista had the ability to place all software registration and licensing info in one modular packet or folder that could be backed up and transferred from one computer to another, such as when you buy a new system? I know Windows XP has its wonderful Files and Settings Transfer feature, but it is by no means complete. Such an option would eliminate the need to phone home, or get on the phone to verify that you actually are a registered user of a vendor’s software and spend time and money begging them for activation. I always feel like a criminal when a company assumes I’m stealing the goods I paid for (and the mere license number, order number, and activation code are not enough until I talk to them over the phone).

Is there any software out there that can do this now, transferring info from one system to a completely different/new one? Let me know.

This girl is holding a disk. It’s supposed to represent something to do with software registration, but hey, I just liked the picture of the babe.
